Adrián Navas and Isabel Echeverribar have attended the training course “Lecture Series on Shallow Flows” offered by the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (Belgium), from 7 to 9 May.
This “Lecture Series” course offers an overview of fundamental as well as applied aspects of shallow flows. Topics addressed in the Lecture Series were: laboratory and numerical studies of fundamental physical processes and transport mechanisms in shallow mixing layers, wakes, jets, and open channels; transport of heat, solutes, and pollutants in canonical shallow flows; interaction of environmental shallow flows with vegetation, sediment transport and morphodynamics, such as occurring in the coastal area, estuaries, harbours and in rivers.
