Our team took part in the 8th Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration (EMCEI), held from 15 to 18 July 2026 in Aveiro, Portugal, one of the region’s leading scientific gatherings on environmental integration.
There, postdoctoral researcher Luis Hernández presented the work “SERGHEI-EFHERA: A Physically Based High-Performance Computing Framework for Soil Erosion Modelling in Post-Wildfire Scenarios,” developed within the EFHERA project. The approach combines Sentinel-2 imagery and LiDAR data to estimate vegetation cover and height before and after wildfires, feeding a physically based model that simulates water-driven soil erosion processes under post-fire conditions.
The conference also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with other research groups across the Euro-Mediterranean region working on related topics, bringing fresh perspectives and potential collaborations to our line of research.
