The kick-off meeting for the RESCUER-MSCA project was a resounding success, with the University of Zaragoza playing a central role. Pilar García-Navarro shared her expertise on river modeling with an engaging talk, while Mario Morales joined online to guide us through GPU programming for environmental studies.
The two-day event, starting on March 24th, was a mix of discussions, planning, and networking. Zaragoza’s team was instrumental in shaping strategies for project collaboration and research directions, particularly in tackling river, water quality and urban flood challenges.
The Doctoral Network RESCUER (Resilient Solutions for Coastal, Urban, Estuarine and Riverine Environments) will train 10 young researchers to tackle medium and long term water challenges that face coastal communities, focusing on forecasting and modeling of coastal, riverine, and urban flooding and associated water quality issues.
